The Dream Act has passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 216 to 198. For those of you who are going to blame the Democrat party in a lame duck session, please consider these facts. Eight Republicans voted for HR 8647.
If they would have voted against this legislation, the vote would have been 208 to 206. But we must also consider the eleven Republican representatives who did not even bother to vote.
This would have made the vote 217 to 208 against the measure and the Dream Act would have failed. I wonder what the unintended consequences of this vote will be. Our votes will be worth as much as the dollar in the 2012 elections.
