Please read more. . .
The Durham, NC City Council, and a number of local and outside interests, are preparing to levy a new tax on Downtown Durham. The Business Improvement District (BID). I am doing what I can to raise awareness on this, but time is short, and I’m (probably?) outnumbered.
I’m hoping some of you will write letters to the editor, post on local blogs, write your city councilman, or what have you. I also have signs and stickers if you will display one or two. Time is very short. We only have until May 2nd, when the Council will vote on the matter.
This new tax will directly affect those of us who live downtown, but will also affect anyone who likes to enjoy activities downtown. I would like to help keep prices (taxes) down, so that everyone can continue to enjoy our downtown without further hardship.
Will you please help?
To learn a little more about the BID, I’m providing some links below. To varying degrees, these synopsis are generally pro-BID, and you won’t see much about the unintended cosequences of new taxes. In any case, they’ll give you some background.
Any help is appreciated. Please pass the word, too. Thanks!

We cannot tax ourselves to utopia. Please help me say so.
