I received one of those emails again…you know the ones that seem to keep coming around from time to time. This one was about how Obama keeps “Apologizing” for America. Well, I decided to look into a few Facts and granted, the email does have SOME miss-statements. So, I decided to do a little editing and cleanup some of those miss-statements. Here we go with the Facts. Enjoy
At a time when our president and other politicians tend to apologize for our country’s prior actions, here’s a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country.
JFK’s & LBJ’s Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the mid 60′s when Frances President Charles De Gaulle decided to pull out of NATO. De Gaulle said he wanted all US Military out of France as soon as possible.
Rusk Responded “Does that include those who are buried here?
De Gualle did not respond.

At a World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 26, 2003, Colin Powell defended the U.S. government’s position that the use of military force against Saddam Hussein, unilateral or otherwise, was not only justified but necessary if the complete disarmament of Iraq could not be achieved by other means.
Powell was asked by the former Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey if he felt the U.S and its allies had given due consideration to the use of “soft power” — promulgating moral and democratic values as a means of achieving progress towards international peace and stability, basically — versus the “hard power” of military force.
Gen. Powell answered by saying, “We have gone forth from our shores repeatedly over the last hundred years and we’ve done this as recently as the last year in Afghanistan and put wonderful young men and women at risk, many of whom have lost their lives, and we have asked for nothing except enough ground to bury them in, and otherwise we have returned home to seek our own, you know, to seek our own lives in peace, to live our own lives in peace. But there comes a time when soft power or talking with evil will not work where, unfortunately, hard power is the only thing that works.”

There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying ‘Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?’
A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: ‘Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?’

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, ‘Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?’
Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, ‘Maybe it’s because the Brit’s, Canadians, Aussie’s and Americans arranged it so you wouldn’t have to speak German.’

AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE…
Robert Whiting , an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.
“You have been to France before, monsieur?” the customs officer asked sarcastically.
Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.
“Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.”
The American said, ‘The last time I was here, I didn’t have to show it.”
“Impossible! Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France”
The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ”Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn’t find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.”

Most of the Colin Powell quote is correct though.

This is from an old e-mail that was originally titled, “Come pick up your garbage”
and also, “Getting rid of their trash” and also, “You could have heard a pin drop”.
When these were found to be made-up, they changed the title, but not much else. The
re-writers didn’t see that even the half truths were taken out of context.
- Also, the e-mail left out this one:
“A [U.S. Navy Admiral] was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the… [ U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies]. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in [English] as they sipped their drinks but a [French] admiral suddenly complained that, “[Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English].’ He then asked ,’Why is it that we always have to speak [English] in these conferences rather than speaking [French]?’ ((of course he said that.))
[Without hesitating, the American Admiral] replied ‘Maybe it’s because [the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans] arranged it so you wouldn’t have to speak [German].” This one gets changed around with Spanish vs English, Japanese vs. Filipino, etc.

*I would much rather be proud of my country and service men for what really happened. Not someone bad mouthing another in order to feel bigger.
Lindsey & Tal,
Everything in this post has been verified and IS TRUTHFUL.
I would encourage you to read and ‘Comprehend’ the post before making comments and posting a bunch of nonsense. I went through each and everyone of your ‘Links’ and not one of them, state that anything said herein is false.

I also checked out the links cited by “Lindsey & Tal”. None of the links are probitive … mainly because none of those links even delve into or address the specifically cited quotes.
It’s my perception that “Lindsey & Tal” prefer pursuing an agenda rather than an honest, disciplined and open-minded search for the facts or the truth.
What a couple of deliberately defamatory, lying, America-hating, lib/prog assholes!
